2016: Akken is on a record pace.
The investment Akken has made in new features, a new user interface, and AkkuSearch, further separates the AkkenCloud platform from the pack, passing the 750 customer milestone for 2016 Q1.
2015: Akken has its best year ever.
With all new innovations and updated architecture, the AkkenCloud platform generates massive market buzz, leading to a 41% increase in subscription sales.
2014: Akken positions the business for growth.
In 2014, Akken’s rapid expansion necessitates the move to a larger office space and also results in unique partnerships. For example, Akken becomes the first corporate software partner of the American Staffing Association.
2012: Akken announces open API.
Built from day one with the goal of partnering with best of breed providers, Akken’s open API enables Akken customers to integrate with partners on the Akken marketplace, or with their own preferred solution providers.
2010: Akken launches mobile platform.
Akken becomes the first staffing and recruiting solution provider to launch a mobile platform and mobile app. Today, Akken’s mobile app is recognized by Software Magazine as an industry best.
2009: Akken crosses the chasm.
One of the most exciting early years in Akken’s history was 2009, when Akken hit its break even point, through organic growth.
2007: Akken starts to take off.
Akken’s customer list begins to grow quickly, requiring Akken to open its first “official” office in Nashua, NH. Akken also expands both its US and India based teams.
2006: Akken forms relationship with American Staffing Association.
Akken participates in its first event with the ASA at Staffing World 2006. The American Staffing Association has since become a valuable partner.
2005: Akken is incorporated.
Akken launches the first 100% web-based staffing and recruiting solution, and officially incorporates Akken, Inc.
2003: Akken opens its offshore facility.
Akken launches its offshore development team in a state-of-the-art tech facility in Hyderabad, India.
2002: Akken is launched.
Led by a staffing industry veteran (our Founder, CEO & Chief Architect), the vision and R&D for Akken was developed in a small apartment in Woburn, MA.


Giridhar Akkineni
Founder, CEO & Chief Architect

Giridhar Akkineni is a staffing industry entrepreneur. Prior to founding Akken, Akkineni owned interWorldnet, an IT Staffing Firm based in Rocky Hill, CT. Prior to this, he owned businesses in information technology, transport, manufacturing, and retail industries. Foreseeing the potential of cloud computing and an opportunity to unify on one platform the fragmented software point solutions available to staffing and recruitment firms, Akkineni created Akken in 2005. He has taken AkkenCloud from an innovative concept to a leadership position within the staffing and recruitment software industry. Akkineni enjoys spending his free time with his family, at company social events, or watching Formula 1 Racing (he is a Ferrari superfan) and NFL Football.

Akkineni holds a Masters in Computer Science from the University of Bridgeport.

Mark Wallace
VP, Sales & Marketing

Mark Wallace is an experienced leader that helps businesses and entrepreneurs to accelerate growth. Mark founded Justellus, a company that provides executive level sales and marketing services. Mark headed up sales for Sonicbids, Mzinga, and Shared Insights. He led customer acquisition, social media, and community for Environmental Data Resources, a division of the Daily Mail. He was the head of sales and an Officer of DCI, a pioneer in the high tech events industry. Mark’s work has been recognized for many awards including a Forrester Groundswell. He began his career at TAD Technical on their finance team. Outside of work, Mark plays and coaches hockey, mentors young professionals, and volunteers within his local community.

Mark holds a Bachelor of Science in Management from Bentley University in Waltham, MA.

Prakash Akkineni
VP, Engineering

Prakash Akkineni has more than two decades of experience in software development, information technology, and engineering management. Prakash joined Akken from Videojet, a Danaher corporation company that is known to unlock the potential of bleeding and loss companies and turn them around to be profitable using technology solutions. As a technology expert, he was responsible for consolidating numerous systems to increase efficiencies of companies and help them to become more profitable. He brings this same experience to Akken to help customers improve their overall efficiency.

Akkineni holds a Masters in Computer Science from Wayne State University.
