In 1999, Akken Founder and CEO Giridhar Akkineni created InterWorldNet, an IT staffing firm based in Rocky Hill, CT. He immediately set out to find a packaged software solution that would automate the mundane day to day operations of his new staffing business, but soon realized that no such solution existed. While there where many adequate applicant tracking systems on the market, they only simplified one function of a staffing firm’s business and did not integrate with other front and back office applications such as email,
customer relationship management, employee management, payroll, billing, accounting and reporting. Akkineni immediately recognized the need and opportunity to provide an integrated, All-in-One system that could change the way staffing and recruitment firms run their businesses. Instead of requiring companies to install, manage and knit together several expensive stand-alone point solutions, he envisioned an all purpose system that could be accessed from anywhere, at anytime, over the Internet for a monthly subscription.
Akkineni closed his IT staffing firm to put all his energy into the research and development of a cloud-based business management suite for staffing and recruitment firms. AkkenCloud™ was introduced in June of 2007.
