#1: Ask for their opinions
One thing that could potentially increase the happiness of your employees is asking for their opinions on decisions that you make in your business. Not only will this benefit you – as these people work on the frontline of your company every single day, and will know the score – but it benefits your team because they feel like an integral part of your business, which is greatly important.
#2: Stop micromanaging
Micromanaging is one of the worst things that you can do as a manager because it makes your employees feel under a great deal of pressure, and they’re more likely to believe that you simply don’t think that they can do the job right. This really undermines the people that you’ve employed, so if you want to make them happier, then monitor their progress and work in another way.
#3: Provide some space for relaxation
One of the main things that your employees will enjoy is a space in the office, devoted to relaxation. This means that they will be able to chill out on their breaks and unwind from the stresses of work life. It may only be for half an hour, but a room with games machines and drink making facilities will really improve the happiness of your team, so invest in this if you can.
#4: Prioritize safety
If you want to be sure that life is more comfortable for your employees, then it’s a good idea to prioritize safety. This is especially true if you don’t want to find yourself having to deal with workers compensation lawyers, but just for the general wellbeing of your team, it’s wise to make sure that you follow any safety regulations, and keep your office risk free at all times if possible.
#5: Don’t be intimidating
OK, so we all like to know that things are being done in the right way for us, and when something goes wrong, you may have to take some people to task about it. However, this doesn’t mean that you have to be threatening or intimidating in any way, and this is not the sign of a good manager. Make sure that you’re approachable, considerate, and not somebody who is feared by their employees.
